Frew Plumbing & Heating started in 1925,

by my grandfather, James G. Frew Sr.

James G. Frew Sr. apprenticed under J.M. Kissock & Son, located in Bellevue, PA. Mr. Kissock was licensed March 31, 1898 by the examining board of Plumbing, City of Allegheny, PA. After James G. Frew fulfilled the necessary requirements, he became a Practical Plumber, and continued working for Mr. Kissock. In 1925, my grandfather purchased the plumbing business from Mr. Kissock and used his own name of Frew. He continued occupying the Kissock location.

In 1953 James G. Frew Jr. entered into the business and bough his uncle’s plumbing company, Taylor Plumbing. James G. Frew Jr. had 4 uncles on his mother’s side, and 3 of them were plumbers. James G. Frew Jr. ran his business on Gorard Avenue from 1953 to 1960, and then moved to 546 California Avenue in Avalon.

In 1969, I, James M. Frew started my apprenticeship under my father. In 1974, I acquired both my PA State and Allegheny County Journeyman’s licenses. Then in 1975, I received my Master plumber License. In 1989 I took over the business and remained in Avalon. In 2001, I moved to the present location at 8315 Ohio River Boulevard in Emsworth.

Today, we have third (3rd) and fourth (4th) generation family members serving our customers. The Frew family has been dedicated to serving our customer’s plumbing, heating, and cooling needs. We will continue to provide the highest possible service and customer satisfaction.
